Two of my closest friends were at the wedding: Dave and Janusz (a.k.a. Johnny). The one thing the three of us have in common is an obsession with music.

Dave and I spent many an hour "playing" guitar when we were in high school. We were pretty bad, hence the quotes. (He brought with him to Poland a recording we'd made "back in the day," and it turned out to be a clear explanation as to why are dreams of rock 'n' roll stardom remained just that.)

Johnny and I spent many an hour playing" guitar. There's only one quotation mark there, because one of us can play: Johnny wields a mean flaminco axe, and when he really gets going, he's quite the blues player. I still manage just "to fiddle about." (Quick, quick: name the album and the band.)

— a on chyba wie co mówi. Chłopaki, może jeszcze powinniście sobie to przemyśleć.

It was inevitable, of course, that the two should end up on stage together. What wasn't so inevitable was their choice of song: a blues "Stairway to Heaven."

Actually, these pictures are from three different performances: Johnny sat in with the band on "Biały Miś" ("White Teddy Bear"), then Dave and Johnny played "Stairway" together, then Dave and Johnny did a Dukbutter classic, "Ways of the World."

(Random group photo without any silly explanation or introduction)

After the stellar performances, there was nothing left to do but sit and talk about the brilliance.
